Ordnance Factory, Muradnagar is a metallurgical unit of Yantra India Limited(new DPSU, which came into existence w.e.f 1st October 2021), engaged in the production of Steel Castings to meet the requirement of Sister Ordnance Factories. The activities in the production of arms, ammunitions, weapons, vehicles, defence equipment and non-defence equipment (which were earlier undertaken by the 41 units of Ordnance Factory Board ("OFB") under Department of Defence Production, Ministry of Defence) have been transferred to the New DPSUs with effect from 1st October 2021 ("Appointed Date").
OFM came into existence in 1943 as a transplantation project during Second World War.
It is situated 40 Kms away from Delhi on Delhi-Meerut Road (NH 58).
1943 Factory was established as a transplantation project during Second World War with a single heavy Steel Foundry section.
1957 Production of 1000 Lbs. Bomb Bodies commenced followed by production of 25 Lbs. Bomb Body.
1961 New production line added for manufacture of castings for Shaktiman, Nissan Vehicles and Vijayanta Tanks.
1978 New Iron Foundry Section came into existence for manufacturing of casting of H.G. Body, 25 Lbs. & other cast iron casting.
Sand Washing & Grading plant was installed to improve foundry Technology.
1981 Forge Shop with 1 Ton & 2 Ton Hammer came into Existence.
1982 Facilities for steel castings (Plain Carbon & Alloy steel) for T-72 tank introduced. .
1985 5 Ton Hammer installed in Forge Shop.
1995 Awarded ISO – 9002 certification on 15-03-1995 by Bureau of Indian Standard.
1998 Production of 250 kg HSLD Aerial Bomb Body fully established.
2000 NABL Accreditation obtained for Laboratory.
2001 Production of 450 kg HSLD Aerial Bomb Body fully established.
2005 Development and Productionisation of castings for T-90 tank.
2009 Switched over to ISO 9001 : 2008 version from August 2009. Awarded Golden Peacock National Quality Award for 2008
2010 Development of Track Link Assembly for T-72 and Ist set despatched on 15th November, 2010
2011 Bulk Production of Track Link for T-90 Tank commenced. 78 sets supplied to HVF so far.
2011 41 Nos. Castings of 155 mm F.H. Gun has been developed under R&D and supplied to GCF.
2012 Awarded ISO 14001 : 2004 EMS Certification in March, 2012.
2012 Fresh set of Track Link Assembly for T-72 Tank developed after modification and despatched to HVF in July 2012 for trial.
2013 Test Stand for T-90 has been successfully developed through IRD project and commissioned.
2016 Awarded ISO 18001:2007 OHSAS
