Cartridge 5.56 mm Ball is used in antipersonnel role by infantry and can be delivered linked with tracer . This Ammunition is fired from:  I) Insas Semi-Automatic Rifle II) Insas LMG. This Ammunition are of 5.56 X 45 MM and 5.56 X 39 MM dimension.

The Ammunition has following varient:

a) CARTG 5.56 MM BLANK (Shelf life- 10 years),

b) CARTG 5.56 MM TRACER (Shelf life- 10 years),

c) CARTG 5.56 MM BALL MK-N (SS-109),

d) CARTG 5.56 MM JVPC MK-II.
