Ordnance Clothing Factory-Avadi, a proud & reliable supplier of tents to Army, has requisite technical competence and capacity to undertake manufacture of Tents.

In the past, different general purpose tents were under manufacture like

But all these purpose tents were subsequently replaced with Tent Extendable Frame Supported (TEFS). TEFS is based on modular conception which has constant width and height but is extendable in length. TEFS is manufactured in two sizes TEFS–2M & TEFS–4M. TEFS also meets the requirement of two or more general purpose tents in tandem. TEFS has certain distinct advantage over convention tents like:

1. Extendibility to any desired length(in multiples of 2 Mtrs or 4 Mtrs)

2. Optimal utilisation of floor space and less pitching space

3. Sufficient headroom near the walls

4. Interchangeability of textile decking and metal components

5. Pitched tent can be conveniently shifted by short distances

TENT EXTENDABLE FRAME SUPPORTED consists of metal framework over which textile decking is mounted. The metal framework of the tent is constructed by using special light weight Aluminium alloy components like universal member, roof-pole with three-way joining, four-way joints, three-way joints with base plate etc. Textile decking of TEFS consists of a) Outer-Fly (in two sizes), b) Inner-Liner (in two sizes) and c) End Curtain.

Outer-Fly is made from a light-weight water-proof polyester-viscose blended fabric in olive green colour. Inner-Liner is also made from a light-weight polyester-viscose blended fabric in green colour. Both the fabric used in Outer-Fly and Inner-Liner has got excellent colour fastness to daylight.

TEFS-4M has a total of six windows (two each on both walls and one each on both end-curtains) and four ventilators. Similarly, TEFS-2M has four windows (one each on both walls and both end-curtains), one on each side and two ventilators. Windows are laced with mosquito netting to prevent entry of mosquitoes. Ventilators are provided with cowl and metallic frame work to keep them in position. End-Curtains are provided with a door on the right side for entry/exit and a window on the left side. TEFS is also provided with hood and guy rope attached to keep it in position.
